PTA Training

Training to unit PTA officers and chairmen is offered several times a year, beginning in June with the main Peralta District PTA Annual Conference that attracts up to 200 attendees throughout the district. District PTA also offers mini-training several times a year. The dates for these conferences are posted on the district web site at www.peraltadistrictpta.org.

Fremont Council PTA normally conducts an Officer Training workshop every fall that new unit officers can attend. This year, that time coincides with the Peralta District PTA Mini-Training at the end of September. New and ongoing Fremont unit and council officers are encouraged to attend the Peralta training, since Fremont Council is not planning to schedule any training this year at the same time.

PTAQ&A: Before each Council Board meeting at 6:45 PM, council officers will be available in the Staff Room to answer any questions that any unit PTA officer might have. Not all officers will be there every time - if you or one of your officers has a question, please let the council president know that you would like some time for individual questions and she will arrange for the appropriate officer to be there. We believe this format will provide better unit/council interaction and will also reduce the amount of time spent during meetings on individual questions. Any unit officer who comes early is not obligated to stay for the whole meeting, though that is certainly encouraged!

The California State PTA Convention is held every spring (usually May) alternately in northern and southern California. Convention expense should be a part of every unit's budget, and officers should make a special effort to attend the convention in Northern California. Scholarships are offered every year through Peralta District for officers wishing to attend Convention.
