PTA Reflections Art Program

Explore the Arts and Express Yourself

For 50 years, National PTA’s Reflections program has helped students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.

Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response a student-selected theme. Students submit their completed works of art in one or all of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts.

Student artwork from the local level have the opportunity to move up through their council, district, state and national PTA programs. National Reflections awardees receive scholarships in addition to medals and certificates and are celebrated annually at National PTA's Convention & Expo in June.

The annual Reflections theme is created by a student and selected two years in advance through our annual theme search contest. The 2021–2022 Reflections theme I Will Change the World By… was submitted by Lydia Keel from Spanish Fork Junior High School PTSA in Utah.

Students can participate in the Annual Theme Search Contest according to their State PTA Reflections Program guidelines.  Through our annual search process, one winning student's theme will inspire the hundreds of thousands of student artists that participate in the Reflections program.  The winning student sill also receive a $100 award and national recognition.  View the past 50+ years of winning themes. The 2023-2024 theme search will start on September 1, 2021.  All entries must be submitted by November 1, 2021.

Congratulations to the most recent winner of the Annual Theme Search Contest, Jason Yevin, from Salk/MacArthur PTSA in New York.  We thank Jason and the New York State PTA for the 2022-2023 Reflections theme:  Show Your Voice!
